Western Civilization: Lesson 180 (Final post for 10th grade)

1) What do you think is the central point of the essay you read by Mario Vargas Llosa?

How he liked to focus on how a small number of Europeans captured a large chunk of North and South America.

(2) What is the truth of the matter regarding the claim that people in the Middle Ages thought the earth was flat?

The truth was that most people, not all of course, believed the earth might be round. They made it seem that everyone did not support Christopher Columbus because they thought he would fall off the edge of the world. Of course that would not be true on a flat earth and not many people really believed that would happen.
